Another popular attraction in Didim is the Sacred Way, even though it is situated outside the temple it has an important relevance to the temple. According to legend both Apollo and Artemis were born in Didim with the Temple of Apollo being built in Didim and the Temple of Artemis built in Miletus, but the two temples were originally connected by a road known as The Sacred Way. Nearby the Temple of Apollo is the famous snake-adorned head of Medusa. Medusa was a mortal until she got the attention of two pagan gods, Athena and Poseidon.
