Hisaronu Turkey

Hisarönü - Turkey There are many attractions to choose from in Hisarönü, which is between the neighbouring villages of Ölüdeniz with great beach and Fethiye with a marina at the harbour. Paragliding over Ölüdeniz is a must for anyone who has never gone paragliding - the breathtaking views will mindboggle you. Daily boat trips are an enjoyable day or half day tour on which you can relax, swim, snorkel, sunbathe and see some beautiful sights around the 12 Islands. Some feel that the full day trips can be a bit too lengthy, but the half day ones are just about perfect at around 10-15 lira per person with barbecue lunch included. Another nearby attraction is Kayaköy which is a sort of ghost town. Kayaköy is a small, picturesque village formerly inhabited by Greeks under the name Levissi (Karmylassos) until the population shifts occured in the 1920's. This ghost town is now preserved as a museum village and consists of hundreds of rundown but still mostly intact stone Greek-style houses and churches. An option is to take a tour on an ATV. Ride in pairs or singularly on your own rented quadbike as part of a group tour.

The nightlife of Hisarönü is legendary on the south coast of Turkey. The nightclubs and bar rock away until almost dawn during the summer season. Visitors will find everything from Turkish theme nights to 60's discos to full-on euro-nightclubs with DJ's. If you are a more active traveler there is no use just spending all day lying on the beautiful Ölüdeniz Beach, beside your hotel pool, or sitting at a bar. Hisarönü has plenty of opportunities to get out and about - such as paragliding from Babadag Mountain to a landing on Ölüdeniz Beach - take a canoe down the Xanthos river to Patara or visiting the market (Pazar) in nearby Fethiye. Other day adventures might include a glass-bottom boat trip or taking a ferry from Marmaris to the Greek island of Rhodes or even a visit to the 'ghost town' of Kayaköy. The surrounding area offers a most beautiful landscape, ideal for trekkers, and a coastline dotted with secluded bays and coves accessed through winding forest paths. Being set at high altitude the town also has the advantage of being cooler and less humid than the coast making your walk more enjoyable in the summer sun. The resort has grown from a very basic village in 1990 to the large resort with its neighbor Ovacik since then. In 1992, the road through Hisarönü to Kayakoy was paved for the first time. Hisarönü was originally intended to provide accommodation for nearby Ölüdeniz where new building permits are quite restricted. But because of its friendly atmosphere, Hisarönü has become a holiday resort in its own right especially popular with British holidaymakers.

The Dalaman International Airport is located a little over an hour away from Hisarönü.
